He symbolises a contented man,full of happiness, satisfaction and good well being. He carries a small gold nugget in his right hand, bringing riches and happiness to others. The Budai figure appears throughout Chinese culture, and it is said that rubbing his protruding belly will bring the bearer wealth, good luck and prosperity.
