It has been fired twice and coated in a rusty shino glaze oxide that has been hand-painted on to give a rustic and aged feel

Their faces are layered with pigment and then highlighted in a transparent glaze in order to animate their eyes

It entails carving away the patterns in the underglaze so that it creates a form of relief work
